Samsung just launched its Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone, and the first hands-on video of the device has now surfaced online, revealing several strengths and weaknesses.
The newly launched Galaxy Z TriFold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, integrated with 16GB RAM and 512GB & 1TB internal storage, and runs Android 16-based One UI 8 out of the box.
Meanwhile, a YouTuber, Mrwhosetheboss (Arun Maini), has shared the first full hands-on video of the device. The very first notable thing right at the unboxing is a 45W fast charger. Look wise it is quite similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, it is thicker and heavier than the previous Galaxy foldable phones.
It features a 10-inch display when unfolded and measures 3.9mm in thickness. The magnet system slowly lifts the middle display panel, making the two-stage opening more intuitive. One of the notable cons is that you will appear to have two deeper and more visible folds on the display since the inner screen uses two hinges.
You can’t put the device stably on the table without using the accompanying case due to its heavy weight, narrow contact surface, and salient camera cluster. The glossy fiberglass at the back is absolutely giving a nice look, but it is liable to smudges.
Although the device scores impressive points in terms of high-end work & multitasking capabilities, it is completely compatible with Samsung DeX. However, without using DeX, the device can open three apps side by side, swapping layouts, and saving the trio of apps as dedicated icons.
The overall video shows that the Galaxy Z TriFold is a combination of several pros and fewer cons. It is the first Galaxy foldable phone that delivers a true smartphone-like experience when folded and a true tablet-like experience when unfolded, rather than having to trade off between the two factors like before.
