Samsung’s One UI 8.5 Beta: What Galaxy S25 Users Need to Know About the Next Update

Samsung’s fourth One UI 8.5 beta might drop sooner than you think. If tipster Tarun Vats is right, and he usually is, Galaxy S25 beta testers should watch for an update around January 19 or 20.

The timing tracks with Samsung’s current pattern. The company has pushed three betas so far, each spaced exactly two weeks apart. The third landed on January 5, which means mid-to-late January fits the rhythm Samsung’s maintained since launching the program.

Samsung hasn’t clarified whether older flagships will join the beta. The official announcement for the Galaxy S25 series was deliberately vague, but history suggests expansion is likely. Previous One UI betas have gradually opened to additional devices before the stable release, so owners of the S24 or other recent models shouldn’t lose hope yet.

Don’t expect a finished version anytime soon. Samsung typically holds back major updates until its next flagship launch, and the Galaxy S26 series is reportedly set for late February, with retail availability by March 11. That means the stable One UI 8.5 rollout probably won’t start until March at the earliest, first for the S25 lineup, then spreading to other compatible devices through April. It’s a familiar cadence for anyone who’s tracked Samsung’s update cycles.

For now, beta participants have a clear target: January 19 to 20. Whether Samsung sticks to the schedule or throws a curveball remains to be seen.
