Samsung Quietly Fixes Good Guardians Compatibility with One UI 8.5

Samsung’s Good Guardians toolkit just caught up with the company’s latest software release, and users can finally stop dealing with compatibility headaches.

The update brings Good Guardians and three of its core modules into line with One UI 8.5, which launched in beta last month exclusively for the Galaxy S25 lineup. Battery Guardian, Memory Guardian, and Thermal Guardian were all stuck in limbo until now, unable to work properly on devices running the newest Android build.

Samsung pushed version 8.5.09 for Good Guardians and Thermal Guardian, while Battery Guardian and Memory Guardian got bumped to 8.5.17. These aren’t feature updates. They’re strictly compatibility patches that let the apps function without crashing or triggering errors on One UI 8.5.

Good Guardians isn’t flashy, but it’s become essential for anyone trying to squeeze better performance or battery life out of their Galaxy device. When these tools break, users lose access to granular controls that Android doesn’t offer natively. The delay in updating these apps left early adopters of One UI 8.5 with fewer options to manage their devices effectively.

To grab the updates, open the Galaxy Store, tap the three-line menu, go to Updates, and hit Update All. Samsung is expected to release the stable version of One UI 8.5 shortly after the Galaxy S26 series launch, which means broader availability is coming soon. For now, this update mostly benefits S25 owners testing the beta, but it signals Samsung is tightening up compatibility ahead of the wider rollout.
