Samsung Galaxy S26 Won’t Get Built-In Magnetic Charging After All

Samsung has quietly walked back plans to build magnets directly into the Galaxy S26 series. Despite months of leaks hinting at native Qi2 support similar to Apple’s MagSafe, the company will once again rely on dedicated cases for magnetic wireless charging.

The reversal comes from leaker @UniverseIce, who claims “independent sources with 100% accuracy” confirmed the Galaxy S26 Ultra won’t feature integrated magnets. The same is expected for the S26 and S26+.

Samsung introduced magnetic charging with the S25 lineup, but only through accessories. The S26 was supposed to change that. Instead, users will need Samsung’s new 25W Qi2 wireless charger (model EP-P2900) and a compatible case to get the magnetic snap everyone wanted from the start.

Check out the European Prices

Earlier leaks suggested alarming price hikes for Europe, with the base S26 starting at €1,199 in Bulgaria. That sparked concern across the region.

Now, according to Dealabs, French pricing tells a different story. The Galaxy S26 256GB is expected around €999, up €40 from the S25. The S26+ 256GB could land at €1,269 (€100 more than last year), while the S26 Ultra 256GB may hold steady at €1,469.

Storage upgrades will cost more. The 512GB S26 jumps €120 over its predecessor, and the 1TB S26 Ultra rises €140, likely reflecting higher component costs.

Italian prices typically run slightly above France, so expect the base S26 to cross €1,000 there. Only the S26 Ultra 256GB might stay flat at €1,499.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed any of this yet. The Galaxy S26 series is expected to launch February 25, with devices shipping in early March. Until then, the biggest surprise isn’t what Samsung added, it’s what it chose not to.
