Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Gets February 2026 Security Update

Samsung is rolling out the February 2026 security patches to the full Galaxy S25 lineup, covering the S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge, and S25 FE. The update is going out a bit later than usual, which likely has something to do with Samsung juggling the One UI 8.5 beta program and preparations for the upcoming Galaxy S26 reveal.

The rollout is starting in South Korea, with specific firmware builds assigned to each model in the range. Other regions should follow within the next few days.

What the update actually fixes

This is a security-focused update, not a feature drop. The patch addresses close to 40 vulnerabilities in total, spanning both the Android OS and Samsung’s own One UI layer.

On the Android side, 25 CVE vulnerabilities have been resolved. Samsung also patched 12 of its own SVE flaws, which specifically affect One UI apps. The Samsung Phone and Settings apps received fixes that tighten permission management and reduce exposure to unauthorized access. Knox Guard Manager and Emergency Mode tools also got attention.

Nothing new has been added in terms of features. Anyone waiting for something more exciting will need to hold out for One UI 8.5, which is expected to launch first on the Galaxy S26 and then make its way to S25 devices shortly after.

How to get the update

Go to Settings, then Software Update, and tap Download and Install. If you prefer doing it from a computer, Samsung’s Smart Switch app works too.

Security updates rarely feel urgent until something goes wrong. Running unpatched software on a flagship phone is an unnecessary risk, so if the update is available on your device, it is worth installing sooner rather than later.
