Samsung’s One UI 8.5 Rollout: What to Expect and When
Samsung launched One UI 8.5 with the Galaxy S26 series, but the broader rollout is now moving quickly, and older device owners are closer to receiving the update than many might expect.
The Galaxy S25 Is First in Line
The Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra have been in the One UI 8.5 beta program for a while now, with seven test builds already released. A stable version has recently been spotted on Samsung’s servers, which typically signals an imminent public release. Realistically, these devices could receive the official update within days.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 joined the beta program more recently, so they will see fewer test cycles before the stable release lands. Expect a wait of a few weeks rather than days for those.
Older Flagships and Mid-Range Devices Come Next
Once the current-generation devices are covered, Samsung will push One UI 8.5 to older Galaxy S, Tab S, and Galaxy Z models. The Galaxy S24 lineup, including the FE variant, sits near the top of that queue alongside foldables like the Z TriFold. Tablets such as the Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra are also on the early list.
Mid-range phones, including the Galaxy A56 and A36, are expected to receive the update in the second quarter of 2026. Entry-level smartphones and tablets will likely follow between Q2 and Q3.
Samsung’s update cadence here is notably structured. The staged rollout reduces the risk of widespread issues, but it also means some users will wait months. If your device is a Galaxy S24 or newer flagship, the wait should be short. For everyone else, patience is still required.
