Samsung Brings AirDrop Support with new software update to Galaxy S26 in South Korea

Samsung has started rolling out a software update for the Galaxy S26 series that enables file sharing with Apple devices through AirDrop. The update is currently live in South Korea and is expected to reach other markets shortly.

The update carries firmware version S94*NKSU1AZCF and applies to the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. It weighs in at over 700MB and ships with the February 2026 security patch rather than the newer March one. Not a perfect package, but the headline feature makes it worth installing.

The AirDrop compatibility works through Quick Share, Samsung’s existing wireless file transfer tool. Once updated, Galaxy S26 users can send files directly to iPhones and iPads without needing a third-party app or workaround. That alone closes a gap that has frustrated Android users for years.

Getting it working does require a few steps beyond the main update. Your device needs to be running Google Play Services version 26.11 or later, and you need Quick Share version 13.8.51.30 from the Galaxy Store. Both are easy to check and update, but skipping either will leave the feature non-functional.

There is one condition on the Apple side too. The receiving iPhone or iPad must have AirDrop visibility set to Everyone. If it is set to Contacts Only, the transfer will not go through. That setting lives under Settings, then General, then AirDrop on iOS.

To install the update, go to Settings, then Software Update, and tap Check for Updates. If it is available for your device, download and install it. The phone will restart as part of the process.

This is a meaningful step toward cross-platform file sharing that actually works without friction. Whether it expands to other regions quickly will be worth watching.
