Samsung Galaxy S26 series Adds AirDrop Support to Quick Share

Samsung has begun rolling out AirDrop compatibility for Quick Share on the Galaxy S26 series, starting in South Korea. For the first time, Galaxy users can share files directly with iPhone, Mac, and iPad users without workarounds or third-party apps.

The rollout follows Google’s confirmation that this cross-platform feature would extend beyond the Pixel 10 lineup, with Samsung moving first given its deep involvement in Quick Share’s development. The feature traces back to Samsung’s original file-sharing tool, which merged with Google’s Nearby Share under unified branding in 2024.

The feature requires Google Play Services version 26.11.xx or newer. If you don’t see the option after it launches in your region, that’s likely the first thing to check. You can update manually by going to Settings, then Apps, then Google Play Services, and tapping App details in store.

That said, the Play Services update alone may not be enough. Users in some regions are still waiting even after updating, which suggests Samsung and Google are controlling the rollout in stages rather than switching it on all at once.

The US is expected later this week, with Europe, Japan, Southeast Asia, Latin America, Hong Kong, and Taiwan following shortly after.

If you’re on a Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, or S26 Ultra, it’s worth updating Play Services now so you’re ready the moment the feature reaches your country. Waiting until it arrives to start updating just delays things further.
