Sending files between an iPhone and an Android phone has never been painless. Bluetooth workarounds, third-party apps, email tricks — none of them felt right. That gap is finally closing in a meaningful way.
Samsung is now rolling out AirDrop support through Quick Share to a wider range of Galaxy devices via the One UI 8.5 beta program. The feature, which lets Samsung phones share files directly with Apple devices nearby, first appeared on the Galaxy S26 series at the end of March. It is now expanding to the Galaxy S25, S24, Z Fold6, Z Fold7, Z Flip6, and Z Flip7 lineups.
The foundation for this was laid back in November, when Google announced that Quick Share would gain AirDrop compatibility. The feature first landed on Pixel 10 devices, then spread to the Pixel 9 series. Samsung is now following with its own rollout through the beta channel.
For Galaxy S25 users specifically, the update arriving is One UI 8.5 Beta 9, a roughly 865 MB download that also includes the April 2026 security patches, three new camera filters, and fixes for Bluetooth connectivity issues, screen flickering during dual recording, and lock screen display errors.
Samsung has referenced “select devices” in its official communication, which suggests the list is not final. If One UI 8.5 becomes the delivery vehicle for AirDrop support across the board, most devices receiving that update could eventually get the feature.
More Galaxy models are expected to join the beta program before the end of April. The full stable rollout timeline remains unconfirmed.
