Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition Brings New Story DLC to PS5 This October

Sucker Punch Productions confirmed Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition on August 12, launching October 1, 2026, with a new story expansion called Echoes of Sekigahara and a roguelike survival mode called Most Wanted. The announcement arrives just ahead of the game’s first anniversary, following months of uncertainty over whether the samurai sequel would receive a full narrative expansion at all.

Existing Ghost of Yotei owners can upgrade to the Complete Edition for $14.99, while the full package costs $69.99, matching the base game’s original launch price.

What We Know About the Ghost of Yotei DLC

Sony detailed the announcement through an official PlayStation Blog post from Sucker Punch, confirming the content lands globally on October 1, with players in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand receiving it a day later on October 2. The update arrives as a free patch for existing owners, while newcomers can buy the full Complete Edition outright.

Echoes of Sekigahara splits its story between the present day and flashbacks to protagonist Atsu’s time on the mainland roughly three years before the main game’s 1603 setting. The present-day thread opens a previously unexplored valley once controlled by The Snake, the first of the Yotei Six, and his gang known as the Vipers. The flashback sequences place Atsu inside the historical Battle of Sekigahara and introduce Nagato, described as a mysterious figure from her past. Sucker Punch also confirmed new enemies, heavy weapons, armor sets, and dyes arrive alongside the story content.

Most Wanted, the new roguelike mode, has players accepting bounties to kick off individual runs, earning perks from defeated enemies, and unlocking additional playable characters along the way. A new trailer showed Atsu wielding dual katana, Oyuki using a kusarigama, and Nagato fighting with a yari. The mode joins Ghost of Yotei: Legends, the four-player co-op mode Sucker Punch released back in March.

The Complete Edition also folds in previously exclusive Digital Deluxe bonuses, including the Charm of Hokkyokusei accessory, alongside new photo mode stamps, additional New Game+ cosmetics, and new Trophies tied to both new features. A physical release of the Complete Edition will be available as well.

Why This Expansion Matters for Ghost of Yotei Players

Ghost of Yotei launched to strong reviews and sold more than 3.3 million copies within its first month, later winning Adventure Game of the Year at the D.I.C.E. Awards. The $14.99 upgrade price undercuts Iki Island’s $19.99 tag by $5, giving existing owners a comparatively low-cost way back into Atsu’s story. Whether Echoes of Sekigahara matches Iki Island’s scale remains unconfirmed, since Sucker Punch hasn’t detailed the expansion’s length or mission count.
