Bodycam Locked & Loaded Update Launches Today

Bodycam’s biggest update since Early Access launch is live today. Reissad Studio released Major Update v0.8, called Locked & Loaded, on September 2, 2026, for the hyper-realistic tactical shooter, alongside a new launch trailer. The free update touches nearly every core system in the game rather than simply adding new content on top of the existing build.

Bodycam has been in Steam Early Access since June 7, 2024, built in Unreal Engine 5 and known for photorealistic visuals inspired by the viral tech demo Unrecord. Locked & Loaded was originally planned as a smaller Spring Major Update before Reissad Studio expanded it into a far larger overhaul during development.

Bodycam Locked & Loaded – What’s New

The update reworks the game’s first-person animation system with a new stress-based reload mechanic, where weapon handling and operator grip shift depending on incoming pressure, nearby explosions, and movement speed rather than playing the same fixed animation every time. A new Loadout & Weapon Customization system adds hundreds of attachments for players to build out their gear more precisely than before.

Reissad Studio also added a Tactical Tablet, an in-game interactive device that handles loadout changes, settings, and character progression without needing to back out to traditional menus. On the tactical gadget side, the update introduces FPV flying drones and ground-based RC vehicles for reconnaissance, with both arcade and simulator control options depending on player preference. A new map, Trenches, launches alongside redesigned audio, progression changes, and general performance optimization across the board.

Ahead of today’s release, Reissad Studio ran a four-part developer diary series covering animations, audio technology, level design, and community-driven changes, along with a pre-release playtest that opened toward the end of August for players who requested access through the game’s Steam page.

What This Means for Bodycam Players

Reissad Studio has described Locked & Loaded as more of a foundational rebuild than a typical content update, which explains the months of relative quiet since the Spring Major Update was first announced and then delayed. For a small indie team, reworking core animation and reload systems while simultaneously adding a full customization system, new gadgets, and a map is an ambitious scope for a single update, and it suggests the studio is trying to set up a more stable base for whatever comes after this release rather than just padding out the current build.

The addition of drones and RC vehicles also pushes Bodycam further into dedicated tactical-shooter territory, giving players reconnaissance options beyond simply peeking corners, which could meaningfully change how matches are approached compared to the game’s original, more stripped-down feature set.
