Black Clover Season 2 Returns October 3 After Five Years
Black Clover Season 2 will begin airing in Japan on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 11:00 p.m. on TV Tokyo and affiliates. That is the first new weekly TV episode since the original 170-episode run ended in March 2021.
The date was confirmed September 7, 2026, along with pre-broadcast specials on TV Tokyo and a new ending theme. Internationally, Crunchyroll will stream the season outside Asia. U.S. and Canadian fans can also catch a one-night Crunchyroll Anime Nights preview on September 21.
What the new season covers
Season 2 picks up after the Spade Kingdom Raid. The first run stopped with the Clover, Heart, and Diamond knights still standing in the wreckage of that war. Asta’s anti-magic, Yuno’s wind, and the captains’ assault on the Spade castle are the jumping-off point.
Creator Yūki Tabata finished the manga in May 2026 (it moved from Weekly Shonen Jump to Jump GIGA in 2023). The anime no longer has to wait on chapters. Director Ayataka Tanemura has said Tabata asked him to make the fights “extra cool.” Anime Expo attendees who saw Episode 1 in July described a sharper, more cinematic opener built around Asta and Liebe training under Nacht Faust.

Tanemura directed episodes 153–170 of the first series and the 2023 film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King.

How we got here
Crunchyroll first flagged a new season at Anime Expo 2025. A 2026 window landed at Jump Festa ’26 in December 2025. October was locked in June 2026. Episode 1 screened at Anime Expo on July 4 with Kajiwara and Tanemura on stage.
TV Tokyo will air recap and countdown specials on September 15, including a first-season digest and a pre-broadcast feature with Kajiwara in Los Angeles and a look inside Pierrot.
The original series ran October 2017–March 2021. The gap was long. The manga is finished. Season 2 is the rest of the climb to Wizard King.
