Marvel’s Wolverine PS5 Is Out: Price, Platforms, and First Reactions

Marvel’s Wolverine is out worldwide on PlayStation 5. Sony and Insomniac Games opened the servers on September 15, 2026, five years after the 2021 reveal. It is a single-player action-adventure, rated Mature, and it is not on PC.

Logan is hunting answers about his past. The original story puts him back with Team X three years after he walked away, then into a rescue of kidnapped mutants. Jean Grey is in it. So are Sabretooth, Mystique, Bolivar Trask, Omega Red, and Sentinels. Liam McIntyre voices Logan. David Fleming wrote the score.

Marvel’s Wolverine – What’s in the Box

Combat is claw-first: slashes, healing factor, and a rage that Insomniac spent years selling as nastier than Spider-Man. The studio scanned real locations, including a trip to Japan, for environments. PS5 Pro gets a performance bump. DualSense, 3D audio, and fast SSD loads are the usual Sony stack.

Standard Edition is $69.99. Digital Deluxe is $79.99 and adds five suits (Incredible, Savage, Age of Apocalypse, Night Hunt, New Leather) plus extra claws and technique points. Pre-order extras included the classic brown suit, reflective claws, one technique point, and avatars. A Tōkon: Fighting Souls crossover suit unlocks through play. There was no paid early-access window. Deluxe and Standard unlocked together.

A special-look trailer also landed on Disney+ on launch day.

The first days have been loud. OpenCritic’s snapshot in the launch window sat around a 79 average with a mixed recommend rate. Some reviews praised the combat and the meaner tone. Others said the structure leans too hard on God of War and that some suits clash with the grim look. Players have already flagged scent-trail tracking as a pain. Insomniac has said post-launch updates will answer that blowback. Sales talk out of the first days still puts it among Sony’s strongest 2026 openers even with the argument online.

A late-game beat is already being read as a hook for a larger X-Men project from the same studio. Insomniac has not put a sequel date on a slide.

What This Means for Players

This is Insomniac leaving New York rooftops for a smaller, bloodier campaign. If you wanted another open-world Marvel toy box, that is not the pitch. If you wanted Logan as a close-range tank with a finite story, that is what shipped.

The missing PC date matters. For now the only legal copy is a PS5. Patches will decide whether the launch complaints stick.

What’s Next

Insomniac’s first patch target is the tracking and quality-of-life noise from week one. No PC port, no second platform, and no official X-Men follow-up title have been dated. GTA 6 is still the bigger November shadow on the same console.
