Magic Knight Rayearth English Dub Premieres on Crunchyroll, 32 Years After the Original
Magic Knight Rayearth’s English dub began streaming yesterday, October 21, 2026, on Crunchyroll, with the first episode now available and new episodes set to release every Wednesday going forward. The dub arrives roughly two weeks after the reboot’s Japanese premiere on October 7, marking the franchise’s first new English voice cast since the original 1994 series.
Crunchyroll produced the dub in-house, and the English release lands 32 years after CLAMP’s Magic Knight Rayearth manga and anime first debuted.
The English Cast
Rebecca Chiara Marano voices Hikaru, with Bryn Apprill as Umi and Kelly Greenshield as Fuu, rounding out the trio of eighth-grade protagonists at the center of the story. The supporting cast includes Caitlin Glass as Emeraude, Bradley Gareth as Zagato, Jacob Hopkins as Clef, Erin Nicole Lundquist as Alcyone, Christopher Wehkamp as Lafarga, Cassie Ewulu as Caldina, and Sarah Roach as Ascot.
Jonathan Rigg directed the dub, with Samantha Herek producing and Ben Phillips serving as adaptation supervisor. Additional voices come from Abigail Blythe, Monica Flatley, Lisette Monique Diaz, Kayla Temshiv, Kayla Parker, Kim Rivera, Samantha Snow, Marcus D. Stimac, and Kiane Chula King.
A Fresh Retelling, Not a Continuation
This reboot is a complete retelling of the Magic Knight Rayearth story rather than a sequel, meaning new viewers don’t need any familiarity with the original 1994 anime to follow along. The series is directed by Yui Miura at E&H Production, the studio behind Ninja Kamui and Bullet/Bullet, with Kadokawa and TMS Entertainment overseeing production.
The story follows Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji, three eighth-grade girls pulled from a school trip to Tokyo Tower into the fantasy world of Cephiro, where they’re named the Magic Knights and tasked with saving Princess Emeraude using magical weapons and mecha-style armor. The reboot runs for two cours, totaling 24 episodes, giving the English dub a long runway of weekly releases ahead.
Where to Watch
The subtitled version premiered October 7 on TV Asahi’s ANN programming block in Japan, with a simultaneous Crunchyroll simulcast, while Ani-One Asia streams the series in Southeast Asia. With today’s dub premiere, English-speaking viewers now have both subtitled and dubbed options available on Crunchyroll, with new dub episodes following every Wednesday.
