Galaxy S20 5G updated to January 2023 security patch

Samsung started rolling out the January 2023 security patch for the 5G units (SM-G981) of Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra in Europe

The update, which is currently rolling out in France, should reach all regions within the next few days. However, a couple of days ago, the update is already rolled out for the LTE variant.

The January 2023 security patch for Galaxy S20 5G, Galaxy S20 Plus 5G, and Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G carrie firmware version G981BXXSFGWA7, G986BXXSFGWA7, and G988BXXSFGWA7, respectively.

The security patch includes fixes for 52 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) in the Android OS. These CVEs range from moderate to high severity.

Overall, this is a solid update that addresses some important security issues and provides some helpful bug fixes.

If you have a Galaxy S20 5G unit in Europe, be sure to check for the update and install it as soon as possible.

Although Samsung has not announced when the January security patch will roll out to other regions, it is clear that the update is currently only available in Europe.
