Samsung Galaxy S21 Lineup & Galaxy S21 FE June Update: USA Locked

Today, Samsung has released another June update for the Galaxy S21 series in the USA, which also includes the S21 FE.

This update is for the locked versions on the Xfinity, a Comcast Cable Llc subsidiary for Galaxy S21 FE, and T-Mobile networks for Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ & Galaxy S21 Ultra. The update is another June 2022 security level patch & expected soon to reach other regions as well.

The series has three models, namely & the Fan Edition Galaxy S21 & following are their updated build no.-

  • Galaxy S21 5G(SM-G991U) – G991USQU5CVDB
  • Galaxy S21+ 5G (SM-G996U) – G996USQU5CVDB
  • Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G (SM-G998U)- G998USQU5CVDB
  • Galaxy S21 FE 5G (SM-G990U) – G990USQU3CVF1 

According to the Changelog following are the improvements the current update brings: This firmware update brings only the June 2022 security level patch consisting of Google’s and Samsung’s security and privacy issues fixes for all the devices mentioned above.

Security & Privacy Issue Fix Update : For Galaxy S21+, S21, S21 Ultra & S21 FE

This time, it’s just a security update that improves the overall stability of the devices. According to the changelogs & user-posted screenshots on the Samsung community in the US, the update is for security and privacy issues fix but is not limited to it. It can also include general bug fixes and device stability improvements, with more enhanced features and further improvements to performances.

On account of Samsung and Google’s report, its June 2022 security patch fixes dozens of vulnerabilities related to user privacy and data security, such as SIM card data access, remote code execution, improper access controls, MAC address information, camera access, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Samsung account, etc. Also, improvements in native or stock apps, i.e., overall about 66 fixes.

The series is a premium segment from Samsung and will enjoy the latest OS & UI upgrade in upcoming years, as per Samsung’s 4-year software support policy.

Samsung advises keeping your device up to date and regularly checking for software updates. Users can check for the latest software update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install or turning auto-updates or notifications on in the settings of your device.
