Carrier-locked Galaxy Note 20 series now updating to the December 2022 firmware in the US

Samsung is now speeding up the distribution of the December 2022 update and started serving the update to its flagship smartphones. Now company added two years older flagship smartphone to the list, Galaxy Note 20 series.

Currently, the Korean giant is updating the Galaxy Note 20 device in the US region (carrier locked). While the device already got the December 2022 update in Europe last week. Users who own the Comcast locked device can identify the latest update by its firmware version number N981USQS3GVKA and N986USQS3GVKA for Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, respectively.

The December 2022 security patch update doesn’t add any new features to your smartphone but improves system reliability and stability. The new update brings new enhancements for security. According to Samsung’s official documentation, the December 2022 security update includes 93 patches that fix several security vulnerabilities.

Moreover, it provides some bug fixes so the device can run smoothly and securely, So it is better to update your device as soon as possible so you can run all the functions of your device without any lags or clutter.

December 2022 Security Patch Vulnerabilities:

According to the Samsung documentation, the latest patches include the fix to as many as 93 vulnerabilities, 67 of them common to (almost) all Android devices. Of the long list, 5 vulnerabilities are defined as critical, 63 high priority, and 12 moderate. Most of these vulnerabilities affect Galaxy smartphones and tablets with Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12, but some also touch the latest version of the robot. Among the latter, one concerns the RCS system, which would allow malicious actors to access the phone number of an incoming call. It also required action on the vulnerability that would allow access to the contents of the toast notifications of the Personal Area through the Nice Catch app (it is part of the Good Lock package).
