Verizon US rolls out December 2022 security update for Galaxy Fold 2, Galaxy S21 FE, and Galaxy S21 Series
From the starting week of the month, Samsung has released the December 2022 security update to several devices, from the high end to the low end. The company has rolled out the update to most of the devices irrespective of the price range, and following this trend, Verizon has added some new galaxy devices to the latest security update, including Galaxy Fold 2, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy S21 FE (2022), and Galaxy S21 Series.
The latest update includes some bug fixes that improve the performance and stability of the system. Furthermore, the December 2022 security update comes as the monthly security update, which also brings several enhancements for the device security, strengthening the overall security of the device.

According to the Verizon support page, all the above-mentioned devices have received the most up-to-date security update. However, it may also include some additional fixes for the recently released Android OS update. While as per Samsung’s official documentation, the December 2022 security update includes 93 fixes that resolve several security vulnerabilities.

According to the Samsung documentation, the latest patches include the fix to as many as 93 vulnerabilities, 67 of them common to (almost) all Android devices. Of the long list, 5 vulnerabilities are defined as critical, 63 high priority, and 12 moderate. Most of these vulnerabilities affect Galaxy smartphones and tablets with Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12, but some also touch the latest version of the robot. Among the latter, one concerns the RCS system, which would allow malicious actors to access the phone number of an incoming call. It also required action on the vulnerability that would allow access to the contents of the toast notifications of the Personal Area through the Nice Catch app (it is part of the Good Lock package).
