Unlocked Galaxy S22 getting December 2022 security firmware in the US

After updating the Galaxy S22 device in several regions last week, Samsung is now rolling out the December 2022 security update in the US. The carrier-unlocked variant of the Galaxy S22 series models is receiving the latest security update.

The latest firmware update carries different firmware versions for each modal as S901U1UEU2BVL1, S906U1UEU2BVL1, and S908U1UEU2BVL1 for Galaxy S22 general, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra respectively.

The Android December 2022 security update is a monthly update that includes several fixes that resolve issues regarding security vulnerabilities, as well as it also improves the performance and stability of the device. According to the Samsung documentation, the latest patches include the fix to as many as 93 vulnerabilities, 67 of them common to (almost) all Android devices. Of the long list, 5 vulnerabilities are defined as critical, 63 high priority, and 12 moderate. Most of these vulnerabilities affect Galaxy smartphones and tablets with Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12, but some also touch the latest version of the robot. The Galaxy S22 device was launched early this year and came with Android 12 out of the box. However, the device has recently received Android 13 globally.
