Samsung One UI Improves Your Smartphone Experience: One UI 1 to One UI 5.1
Samsung is one of the largest manufacturers of Android devices, which makes the company fully dominant in the Android market, and with the recent developments, it has done commendable work in the software department.
The Korean giant introduced its first custom skin UI in the form of TouchWiz, it first came in the earliest smartphones in 2009, and later it introduced a new version of it, like TouchWiz 3.0 in 2010 and TouchWiz 4.0 in 2011. And then used its new custom skin named Samsung Experience.
Samsung One UI Skin-based on Android
After using the Samsung Experience named UI, Samsung has come to the point of introducing its new custom skin One UI. The initial version was released in 2018 with Android 9. The company has removed all the focus from the previous custom skins and made the One UI from scratch. The company has developed all the minor and major functions carefully, so it brings clean and smooth interfaces for the devices.
From the year 2018 to now, Samsung had very much developed its One UI custom skin from the One UI 1.0 to One UI 5.1; there have been more than 10 upgrades introduced till now, which include the exclusive major updates and two after updates which come with more new features, for instance, One UI 5.0 update released in October 2022, then One UI 5.1 is rolling out currently and after few days the One UI 5.1.1 will be available for the big screen devices. As of now, the One offers more powerful features and customization options for Galaxy devices. Let’s know about them generation-wise.
One UI 1.x
One UI 1.0 is the first iteration of One UI, which brings very significant features with it, like dark mode, a new Always-on display, a Bixby button remapping support, and the gesture button; then in other updates like One UI 1.1 and One UI 1.5, the features get more optimized, in these iterations Samsung devices also got the support of windows.
One UI 2.x
After successfully introducing the One UI, Samsung introduced its second major One UI update in 2019, which was based on Android 10; with this update, Samsung pushed all the features like dark mode and also brought some new features like a native screen recorder, a trash folder inside the files app, and dynamic lock screen, which changes the screen background lock each time the display turned on, later it introduced some after iterations One UI 2.1 and One UI 2.5 which brings some new features .like Quick share, Samsung Dex, which is a tool that uses for mirroring the device to a compatible PC or TV.
One UI 3.x
The One UI 3.0 is the third major One UI update that was introduced in 2020; it brings several new features like a translucent notification panel and Samsung free, the business version of Google Discover; it also brought some cool animations and new widgets. Later, the company introduced two minor updates such as One UI 3.1, which brings minor changes, especially on the camera side, and One UI 3.1.1, which is exclusively available in Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3; it doesn’t bring any new features but brings improved and optimized features for the large screen devices.
One UI 4.x
One UI 4.0 was based on Android 12; it arrived in 2021, which brings some new changes that are based on the latest personalization and privacy features of Android. Later it also gets two new minor updates, One UI 4.1, which brings some new features like night mode portraits and a smart calendar app. While One UI 4.1.1 is available for large-screen devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Tab S6, Tab S7 and Tab S8 series. It doesn’t bring any new features with it but makes them more optimize for large screens.
One UI 5.x
Last year, Samsung introduced its latest One UI upgrade in the form of One UI 5.0. It brings a lot more significant changes for the Galaxy devices, like the support of Material You, more customization features, like stackable widgets, lock screen, guest profile, text recognition, Extract text from the image in the gallery and new modes and scenarios. Recently Samsung has introduced the second version update as One UI 5.1, and it also brings some new features like a shared family album, new connectivity features and many more. Within the next few months, Samsung will introduce another version in the form of One UI 5.1.1.
