Samsung, the leading technology company, has reportedly begun developing a new organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display exclusively for Apple’s MacBook Air series. The new display will reportedly offer a superior visual experience compared to the current LED-backlit displays used in MacBook Air models. This move by Samsung is seen as a significant milestone in the two companies long-standing business relationship, and it is expected to lead to further innovations in the field of display technology.

According to industry sources on March 30th, Samsung Display is reportedly working on developing an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display specifically for the 13.3-inch Apple MacBook Air. This new display is said to be part of Apple’s plans to integrate OLED technology into its MacBook Pro series, following its successful application in the iPad Pro lineup. LG Display is currently working on developing 11-inch and 13-inch OLED displays for Apple’s iPads, which are expected to be released next year. Due to this, LG Display has reportedly faced a shortage of production capacity with developing additional models. As a result, Samsung Display has taken on the task of developing the 11-inch OLED display for iPads, while LG Display continues to work on the 13-inch model.

Samsung Display and LG Display are currently developing organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays for Apple’s IT products at their respective facilities in Korea. Samsung Display is developing OLED panels for Apple’s MacBook Air series at its A3 line in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, while LG Display is producing OLED panels for the upcoming iPad models at its E6-4 line in Paju, Gyeonggi-do. Both A3 and E6-4 are 6th-generation OLED lines equipped with advanced technologies to produce high-quality OLED displays.

Despite Samsung’s development of a new OLED display for the 13.3-inch MacBook Air, it remains unclear when this product will actually be released. Apple typically conducts a two-year product development project before mass production of finished products, but the mass production schedule for key components such as panels has not been specified. Nevertheless, Samsung’s new display is seen as a significant step forward in the partnership between the two tech giants.
