Samsung is constantly expanding the April 2023 security patch for the remaining Galaxy devices. The latest update is not only limited to new security updates, but it also brings a new flagship Galaxy S23 device exclusive feature – Image Clipper for some Galaxy smartphones.

The April 2023 security update is landing on the two older foldable smartphone devices, including Galaxy Z Fold 2 5GGalaxy Note 20, and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. It comes with new firmware version numbers F916WVLU2JWD1, N981WVLU4HWD1 and N986WVLU4HWD1 sequentially.

The update brings the latest security patches that fix the known issues, strengthening the device’s security. According to the official documentation, Google has included some patches that fix the vulnerabilities present in the Android OS. Additionally, Samsung has also added some more patches that exclusively resolve the issues present in the Galaxy devices.

According to the changelog, the update mentions Camera and Gallery improvements along with April 2023 security patch. And we expect that it also brings the Image Clipper feature for both devices. This is a very interesting feature that allows you to take photos of an object and make it a separate image. To do so, you just have to touch and hold the desired object in the photo and wait until options appear; from those, you can save the image in your gallery.

Other software information:

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G and Galaxy Note 20 were both released back in 2020. Samsung has debuted them in the market with the Android 10. According to the policy, they have received new Android updates and are now running on the final major update in the form of Android 13 and One UI 5.1. However, they are still eligible for some new minor updates in the form of security patches like this one.
