The Korean tech giant is now rolling out new security updates for its older flagship devices, including Galaxy S10 5G and Galaxy S20 FE 5G. Verizon is the first carrier that has released the latest security update on its network for these devices. And the 4G variant of Galaxy S20 FE has already received the May 2023 update in some countries, including Russia.

The carrier-locked variant of Galaxy S20 FE 5G and Galaxy S10 5G devices are getting the May 2023 security update in the US. The update is rolling out on the Verizon network. Other carriers are expected to release the update in the next few days.

Users who own Galaxy S10 5G and Galaxy S20 FE 5G can easily identify the latest update by the firmware version numbers G977UVRSAHWD1 and G781VSQS8HWD4, respectively. The Galaxy S20 FE 5G has got its last major update in the form of One UI 5.1, while the Galaxy S10 5G is no longer eligible for new major updates and is stuck with Android 12-based One UI 4.1.

According to the Samsung documentation, the Galaxy S20 FE is listed in the Monthly security update, so it regularly gets new software updates every month, but it is not the same with Galaxy S10 5G; the company has kept this device for only four software updates each year.

If we talk about the latest May 2023 security update, it doesn’t include any new features, but as the name depicts, the update includes some security-related fixes that resolve many issues. As per the information, this time, the update has to enhance many inbuilt functions such as Theme Manager, FactoryTest application, SemShareFileProvider, and many more.
