Carrier-locked Galaxy S22 gets May 2023 firmware in the USA

Samsung has almost completed the May 2023 security update rollout session for flagship devices worldwide. But on the US side, the case is different; there are several devices remaining which are waiting for a new security update. The Galaxy S22 is also one of them. This all happened due to network carrier discrimination.

However, now the Galaxy S22 series is finally getting the update on the carrier-locked variant in the USA. The update is now available on the US Cellular network. Users who own Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra can identify the latest update by these firmware version numbers S901USQS2CWE1, S906USQS2CWE1, and S908USQS2CWE1, respectively. The unlocked variant has also received the update already.

Unlocked Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Note 20 series receiving May 2023 security update in the US

The latest update brings May 2023 security update that fixes over 70 security-related issues. This is one of the monthly security updates that usually doesn’t come with any innovation; however, it includes some extra improvements that bring enhancements to the system.

According to the official documentation, there are 55 fixes added by Google, and 21 extra patches from Samsung have also added some extra patches that improve the security of Galaxy devices.

Galaxy S22 Was the previous year’s flagship device; Samsung has packed the device with Android 12. Later the device has received the new Android 13, and recently it has received the One UI 5.1 update. As Samsung has promised to give five-year software update support to the device, it means users will get new updates till 2027.
