Samsung is continuously progressing in May 2023; with every new day company is rolling out the update to more eligible Galaxy devices. As far as eligibility is concerned, the company has issued a policy that says every flagship range device is eligible to get security update support for up to five years. So keeping the promise, the company is rolling out new updates for Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Note 20 series devices.
The May 2023 security update is now available for the unlocked variant of Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Note 20 series in the US. These devices have already received the One UI 5.1 in the last updates. Additionally, these devices also received the Image Clipper.
The Unlocked variants of Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra are receiving the May 2023 security update with these firmware version numbers S901U1UES2CWD3, S906U1UES2CWD3, and S908U1UES2CWD3 respectively. The Galaxy S23 series devices are getting the latest security update on several networks, including AT&T, Cricket Wireless, Bluegrass Cellular, and C-Spire.
Meanwhile, the carrier-unlocked variants of Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra are getting the same security update with version numbers N981U1UES4HWD7 and N986U1UES4HWD7, respectively. The update will be available on several carriers, including T-Mobile, MetroPCS, Xfinity Mobile, US Cellular, AT&T, Cricket Wireless, C-Spire, Tracfone, Cellular South US, Sprint, and Spectrum Mobile.
Informatively, Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series devices are no longer eligible for further Android updates. These devices will also not get any new updates in the new One UI update; however, as per the Samsung policy described above, they will continue to receive more security updates. And the Galaxy S22 devices will get at least three more Android updates, as Samsung has promised.
