Samsung is rapidly expanding the One UI 6 beta update for its Galaxy devices, and without wasting any time, it is also starting to roll out a new security patch update in the form of an October 2023 update. The company has already rolled out the update to several Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy A54, and Galaxy S22. Now the update is live for Galaxy S21 smartphones.

Carrier-Locked Galaxy S21 gets the October 2023 update in the US

This time, the Galaxy devices that belong to the US market are initially getting the October 2023 update, and now continuing on the same path, the company has rolled out the update to one more Galaxy S series device, the Galaxy S21, which is also getting it. Currently, the locked variants of the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra are receiving new updates with firmware version numbers G991USQS9EWI2, G996USQS9EWI2, and G998USQS9EWI2, respectively. It is currently limited to Sprint networks, and it is expected to be available on more carriers in the next few days.

The October 2023 update doesn’t bring any new features or innovations for the Galaxy devices, but as it is one of the security improvement updates, it has brought several new fixes that enhance the security mechanisms of the devices.

According to the official documentation, the October 2023 update comes with nearly four dozens of new patches, of which 34 are included by Google, which resolves the issues found in the Android OS, while 12 patches are included by Samsung, which fixes the issues exclusive to its Galaxy devices.

If you are using a Galaxy S21 affiliated with the Sprint network, then you should start to get notifications of the update, but if you haven’t gotten the update yet, you can also check it manually by going to the software update menu and going to the system settings.
