Samsung revealed the Exynos 2400 a few weeks ago as its top smartphone processor of the future. On October 5, during Samsung’s System LSI Tech Day in San Jose, California, the Exynos 2400 was introduced, and it is also said to power up the Galaxy S24 series. The Exynos processor family for high-end smartphones has made a comeback after being temporarily halted because of performance problems in the past. The central processing unit (CPU) and neural processing unit (NPU) of the Exynos 2400 processor are now faster and more efficient. Its upgraded NPU capabilities have been boosted by 14.7 times, while its CPU performance has increased by 1.7 times over its predecessors.

In light of some of the new products and technologies that were shown at the LSI Tech Day, Samsung wrote a blog post after the event. The Exynos 2400’s NPU architecture was modified to ‘remove memory bottlenecks’ in order to satisfy these demands. The Exynos 2400’s MobileBERT benchmark performance surpasses the previous generation solution by a factor of three, owing to the architectural modifications made in the NPU. For analyzing the AI’s performance, the benchmark follows a series of natural language processing (NLP) tasks.

The chip has a four-cluster CPU topology; the business has now also verified the division of the mid-cores into two groups with different speeds. The high-end cluster, which was used for time-sensitive applications; the low-end cluster, which was used for background programs; and the medium cluster made up the CPU’s composition in the past. Samsung chose to split the center cluster into two distinct gears in order to operate the CPU more effectively, the statement stated. The frequencies that are anticipated for the Cortex-X4 core are 3.1 GHz, 2.9 GHz for two, 2.6 GHz for three more Cortex-A720 cores, and 1.8 GHz for four Cortex-A520 cores.

The firm stated little about the GPU, saying that the functionality is built on AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture. To improve power and performance, the Exynos 2400 will also reallocate more power to the GPU during extended gaming sessions while decreasing the amount of power used by the CPU. Samsung reaffirmed that better ray tracing is coming with the new Xclipse 940 GPU. A more accurate rendering of global lighting, reflections, and shadows is possible.
