Samsung is equally working hard to serve the new security update to its Galaxy smartwatches. Recently, it rolled out the update to the Galaxy Watch 5 series, and now it has started expanding the update to the Galaxy Watch 4 series.

The latest update for the Galaxy Watch 4 is a December 2023 security update. However,  as per the changelog, the latest update doesn’t bring any new features or innovations; it simply says “the stability has been improved.” This indicates that users will not get any significant changes, but as a security update, it will surely enhance the overall security of the device.

The Galaxy Watch 4’s 40mm and 44mm models are getting the latest update with the firmware version numbers R860XXU1HWL1

and R870XXU1HWL1, respectively. While the Classic’s 42mm and 46mm variants are receiving the update with the firmware version numbers R880XXU1HWL1 and R890XXU1HWL1, respectively,.

As of writing, the December 2023 update for the Galaxy Watch 4 series has been spotted in the US and South Korea, and it is expected to be available in more countries in the next few days. To check the latest update on your smartwatch, you have to simply visit the Galaxy Wearable and go to the software update section. If the update is available, it will start downloading.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch 4 series back in 2021. Initially,  it was planned to get three major updates, but with a recent policy update, the company has expanded the eligibility of the device for one more major update, which means it will get two more major updates in the future.
