Samsung brings December 2023 update for Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro

Samsung is continuously distributing the December 2023 update, but till now it has been limited to smartphones only. But now it has started expanding it to smartwatches with the Galaxy Watch 5 series. It is worth noticing that the latest Watch 6 series has received the November 2023 security patch, but for the predecessor watches, the company directly brought the December 2023 patch update after the One UI 5 watch update.

In the earlier update, these watches made some significant changes to their existing functionality. Informatively, there are some useful features added with the update, which include some new watch faces and new heart monitoring features with exercise tracking. Along with this, the update also brings some more enhancements for managing the sleep cycle.

Now with the latest update, the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro are getting the latest security patch update. According to the 9to5Google, the update doesn’t seem to bring any new features, but it will provide more stability and reliability to the software.

Users who own the Galaxy Watch 5 (40mm) and Galaxy Watch 5 (44mm) can identify the update by the firmware version numbers R900XXU1BWL1 and R910XXU1BWL1 respectively. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is getting a new update with the firmware version number R920XXU1BWL1. It is worth noticing that the update is currently spotted on the Bluetooth-only watches.

If you are also using any of the Galaxy Watch 5 series watches, then you can check the update by following some simple steps: Open the Galaxy wearable app on your phone, then navigate to watch settings, select watch software update, and then tap the Download and Install option.
