One UI 8.0 (Android 16) Spotted in Galaxy S25 Testing

Samsung will start releasing the stable Android 15 to its older Galaxy devices on April 7. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25, which runs One UI 8 on the GeekBench certification, has already started working on Android 16.
Recently, Samsung released the official Android 15-based One UI 7 release timeline for different markets and will start the rollout on April 7. On the other hand, Google has already initiated the Android 16 beta program and has already released three beta updates.
Google’s Android 16 has already entered its platform stability stage. Since it seems to be on the right track for a June 2025 launch, Samsung could match the upcoming Android OS timeline by releasing One UI 8.
Meanwhile, a tipster, Tarun Vats, shared a post on X, revealing that the Galaxy S25 was spotted running One UI 8 based on Android 16 on GeekBench with the dedicated build version BYC5. According to the listing, the single-core of the device scored 3135, whereas the multi-core scored 9938.

This observation indicates that Samsung has begun developing the latest Android OS version and is capable of adhering to its release schedule. Currently, it is all set to release the stable Android 15 to its older Galaxy devices on April 7 in Korea, later than it will expand the release in more countries.
Since there’s no official word regarding the One UI 8 release, it remains to be seen whether the company will release the update on time or will take enough time, similar to the current One UI 7 version.
