One UI 8 Watch may resemble Wear OS 6 Material 3 Expressive design

Google is gearing up to introduce its next major OS iteration for smartwatches: Wear OS 6 based on Android 16, and now it has revealed a few of the Material 3 Expressive’s design.
Google has released the first preview for Wear OS 6, allowing developers and enthusiasts to check out the new software even before the official release. The coming update wil bring a notable UI redesign inspired by the Material 3 Expressive design language.

Meanwhile, one of our reliable colleagues, 9to5Google, has got early access to the upcoming update through Android Studio, revealing a detailed look at it. According to the report, the new Material 3 Expressive design language has been integrated across the system, which includes app draser, notifications, and multitasking menu.

A new “bubble” shape is also placed on the bottom button, almost touching the radius of the display. On top of the bubble, bolder icons on Quick Settings and new animations on the unlock screen, similar to the design language of Material 3 Expressive.

The Wear OS 6 brings a notable implementation of Material You theming change. Now, while changing the watch face, a message “Applying theme” will appear that changes the color across the system, including notifications, buttons, the Quick Settings, and more.

Especially, for the users who avoid automatic themes, the update brings an option for them to choose a theme manually, by navigating to go to Settings >> Display >> Color theme and choose the color option as per your choice out of eight options, including Moonstone, Ivy, Porcelain, Iris, Lemongrass, Jade, Indigo, and Peony.

You will also get an option to turn off the colors completely and use a theme that is mostly purple with some orange accents. It’s expected that Wear OS 6 (One UI 8 Watch) may debut alongside the upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 series.
