Samsung to bring OIS technology to its mid-range segment with Galaxy A17

Samsung is working on its latest mid-range Galaxy A17 smartphone, which is now rumored to have optical image stabilization capability.

A few days ago, it was reported that under the hood, Samsung is gearing up to expand its mid-range Galaxy A series by debuting a new Galaxy A17  device, as it appeared on Geekbench.

Now, a new report from one of our reliable colleagues, ETNews, revealed that the Korean tech giant will add OIS to the Galaxy A1 series, which hints at the Galaxy A17 smartphone, since currently next in the lineup.

The term OIS stands for Optical Image Stabilization, which is a camera technology that reduces blurriness caused by hand movements or camera shake. The OIS technology is based on a MEMS gyroscope, which helps to detect movement and then adjusts the lens or sensor to compensate, resulting in clearer, sharper images & videos, particularly in low-light scenarios.

If the report comes true, then the Galaxy A17 will be the first smartphone in the Galaxy A1x lineup to have OIS technology. However, there’s no official report on whether Samsung will bring the OIS camera technology to its mid-range series, so it remains to be seen what will happen next.

It is expected that the Galaxy A17 smartphone could launch by the end of this year; however, the company has not revealed anything regarding the existence of the device yet.
