Galaxy S26 Ultra Could Debut All In-House Cameras – Here’s What That Means

Samsung has always amazed its Galaxy audience with the best quality upgrades in every sector, one of which is the camera aspect. Year after year, Samsung successfully managed to bring the best-ever quality by incorporating high-level camera sensors, but this time, will Samsung prefer to go in-house with its camera sensors and reach the top mark with the Galaxy S26 Ultra?

Basically, Samsung follows a pattern of equipping camera sensors from both its in-house sensors, ISOCELL, and Sony’s IMX for its flagship S Series’ Ultra models. However, Samsung itself manufactures camera sensors even though it borrows from other brands in the market, like Sony.

Actually, going back to the recent past, with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung preferred to use Sony’s IMX camera sensors in the majority, leaving behind only one in-house ISOCELL sensor at the top (which was the main one, 200MP). Later on, the Galaxy S25 Ultra packed camera sensors in a perfect ratio, where the main 200MP and ultrawide have ISOCELL sensors, while the 3x and 5x telephoto cameras use Sony’s IMX sensors.

Will Samsung Ditch Sony and Go All-In on Its Own Camera Sensors in the S26 Ultra?

Specifically, this time, with the next generation “Ultra,” it’s possible that Samsung may completely ditch Sony’s IMX camera sensors and could possibly incorporate its in-house ISOCELL sensors.

Therefore, beginning with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Samsung may only prefer to use its self-manufactured ISOCELL camera sensors rather than borrowing from other brands in the market, such as Sony. While this anyways will make it easier for Samsung to infuse various exciting optimizations within the Ultra model’s camera hardware, the cost cutting will also play a major role in this new change.

Well, there’s no official clarification from Samsung to possibly change its perspective to go all in-house rather than borrowing camera sensors from others. Thus, this information is to be taken as a sarcastic opinion and not as a reality.
