Galaxy S27 Ultra could lack Samsung’s unique functionality

Samsung appears to be planning to completely ditch its iconic S-Pen stylus beginning from the Galaxy  S27 Ultra, refer to a new report.

Samsung usually offers a built-in S Pen stylus to the Ultra variant of the Galaxy S series phones. It’s a digital pen that allows users to write, draw, and navigate their devices with seamless precision and control than using a finger.

Earlier this year, the company launched the Galaxy S25 Ultra, coupled with a built-in S Pen stylus, but removed Bluetooth functionality from the pen, which disappointed the fan community.

Several Galaxy S25 Ultra users shared their disappointment regarding the removal of the Bluetooth feature from the S Pen over social media platforms such as Reddit and X, which hinted that the company could bring back Bluetooth-enabled S Pen with the Galaxy S26 Ultra next year. However, now the company seems to plan to entirely remove the built-in S Pen from its Galaxy Ultra devices, as a new report suggests.

A new report revealed that the Korean tech giant is planning to eliminate the internal housing for the S Pen starting with the Galaxy S27 Ultra, which will support the smartphone but not be stored inside, the same as the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The reason behind this decision is to introduce a more decent and slimmer design of the device.

According to the report, Samsung could also ditch a few stylus features from the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s S Pen to favor a thinner smartphone design. However, currently, there’s no official word regarding this report, so it remains to be seen whether it will come true.
