Samsung is working on a new feature called “Alert Center” to be introduced with One UI 8, which will notify you regarding sneaky apps, security risks, and aging account settings.
AThe Korean tech giant is gearing up to offer an extra layer of security and privacy to the Galaxy users with the latest Android 16-based One UI 8 version. One of our reliable colleagues, Android Authority, has inspected an internal One UI 8 build and spotted a few strings revealing a brand-new feature called “Alert Center,” a kind of centralized hub for privacy and security alerts related to your device.
Reportedly, it’s expected that Samsung could list this feature under Settings >> Security and Privacy alerts in One UI 8, which will seemingly give you real-time suggestions and warnings to prevent your data and device from unauthorized access.
The spotted strings suggest that the new Alert Center in One UI 8 will support two types of alerts: Privacy alerts and Security alerts. This new feature will notify you when apps access sensitive permissions such as location, microphone, camera, contacts, and more, especially when they are accessed in the background or too frequently.
According to the strings, these alerts will be coded for specific apps: for instance, “XYZ access your camera” or “ABC access your text messages in the background.” The alerts will also be preventative to protect the data and device from any future threats. You might see security alerts, which are as follows –
- Outmoded software & security patches
- Malware apps spotted via Google Play Protect or Samsung’s App Protection
- Unstable accounts, such as Google or Samsung accounts, with suspicious activity
- Biometric setup reminders for the upgraded phone access security
- Find My Mobile alerts while location tracking is off
Apart from this, you might also get a few alerts with an actionable button, such as “Go to App Protection” or “Go to Software update,” that let you take action instantly and protect your device.
