Samsung Display is highly anticipated to supply its crease-free display for Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which is recently reported to debut in the second half of 2026.
It was already rumored that Apple hired Samsung to supply the display for the foldable iPhone. Following the previous rumors, recently, it was reported that Samsung Display is expected to start mass-producing foldable OLED screens for Apple in the last quarter of 2025. The aim behind the ramp-up of production is to ensure the launch of the foldable iPhone in the second half of 2026.
Meanwhile, now Ming-Chi Kuo reports that the foldable Apple iPhone will use Samsung Display’s crease-free display. Apple also plans not to go with its own design solution, as the internal hinges will be supplied by SDC partner Fine M-Tec. Reportedly, to bring out Apple’s demanded design of a crease-free display, Samsung will introduce new laser drilling technology, which aims to create microstructures that better guide stress distribution and enhance crease resistance.
A reliable tipster, Jukanlosreve, also shared a post regarding the same report on X, revealing that Samsung SDI will supply optically clear adhesive (OCA) for Apple’s first foldable iPhone display panels along with two more vendors, including 3M and Nitto Denko.
Notably, the crease plays one of the most essential roles in foldable phones, and it can’t be avoided completely due to the durable folding functionality of the screen, but Samsung Display has panels with a nearly invisible crease. It remains to be seen whether the Korean tech giant will fulfill Apple’s demands for a crease-free display.
