Samsung appears to be bringing a built-in Qi2 magnet to its future flagship smartphones, as the recent survey in its Members app hints; let’s take a closer look at the detailed report behind this prediction.
This year, Samsung has launched several flagship-level smartphones, including the Galaxy S25 series and Galaxy Z Fold 7 & Flip 7. All of these devices support Qi2 wireless charging, but only partially, as these are only certified for the standard’s 15W speed and efficiency but lack a built-in magnet, although it won’t be the case for much longer.
One of our reliable colleagues, SammyGuru, spotted a few interesting details in Samsung’s ongoing survey in its Member app, which hint that the company is looking forward to building Qi2 support with magnets. The survey asks mainly two questions; the first is if MagSafe-style magnetic alignment would reduce inconvenience if wireless charging were the only option, which is followed by five options.
The second is whether users would be open to magnets built into next-generation smartphones, even if that meant a slight increase in thickness, for which users can choose options like a 0.3 mm or 0.5 mm thickness increase or reject the idea outright. These two questions are the prime facts that suggest Samsung is considering offering a built-in Qi2 magnet in upcoming phones.
Qi2 is the latest wireless charging standard from the Wireless Power Consortium, which offers faster speeds and better efficiency, and the key part is magnets that keep chargers perfectly aligned. If the survey goes in favor, Samsung may bring Qi2 magnetic alignment with the next-generation Galaxy S26 Ultra; however, there’s no official word regarding this expectation yet, so it remains to be seen what will happen next.
