Samsung Retains No. 1 Global Smartphone Spot in Q2 2025

Samsung maintained its leading legacy in the global smartphone market during the second quarter of the year by securing a 19% share, according to the metrics of market research firm Canalys.
Samsung Electronics has been dealing with a fall for a long time, but fortunately, the second quarter of the year turned in its favor. It has maintained its position as the global smartphone market leader with a 19% share.
On the rivalry side, Apple followed with a 16% share, and Xiaomi held 15%. However, these market shares for both of these firms were consistent with their performance in the second quarter of the previous year (Q2 2024).
Fortunately, Samsung Electronics is the lone firm among the top three to experience annual shipment growth, with a 3% increase, whereas its rivals, Apple, faced a decline of 2%, and Xiaomi remained unchanged.

Canalys mentioned, “Samsung successfully retained its lead in the second quarter, driven by strong sales of its budget Galaxy A series.”
Apart from these top three brands, Transsion and Oppo secured fourth and fifth positions in the market with 9% market share each, and it’s also unchanged as compared to the previous year, but their annual shipment rates declined by 2% and 3%, respectively.
Noticeably, the global smartphone market experienced a 1% year-on-year decline in Q2 2025, marking its first decline in six quarters. However, despite this overall market downtick, major brands have managed to maintain stable performance anyway, thanks to upgraded inventory conditions within the industry.
