Samsung’s XR Headset Nears Release After Korean Certification Gain

Samsung is anticipated to launch its XR headset (Project Moohan) by the end of Q3 2025, as it has completed safety certification in Korea.

Previously, it was rumored that Samsung would introduce its first XR headset on July 9 at the Galaxy Unpacked eventalongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 & Z Flip 7 foldable phones; however, the rumors turned false, as the company has already done with the event without the XR headset revelation.

Now, a new report from DealSite revealed that Samsung Electronics is a step closer to the XR Headset launch, as it has obtained KC certification for a device with the model number ‘SM-I610’ from the Korean Testing & Research Institute (KTR).

According to the report, the device was classified as an ‘electrical product subject to safety confirmation’ under the Electrical Appliances and Consumer Goods Safety Management Act and received a ‘suitable’ rating as a ‘laptop computer-like device.’

Reportedly, an official familiar with Samsung Electronics stated, “The XR headset Infinite is more like a test bed for entering the XR market, while the real battleground is the smart glasses.”

It seems that the company aims to see market response and test the competitiveness of XR devices through its first XR headset. It’s also revealed that a lightweight, wearable XR device, such as smart glasses, is more compatible for widespread use than a bulky headset. However, the smart glasses are still in the early stages of development, but it is highly anticipated that they will launch by the end of this year.
