Samsung seems to have made up its mind to gradually abandon the S Pen altogether completely with the coming devices. Let’s take a closer look at the S Pen concern.
Samsung offers a built-in S Pen stylus to its Ultra model of the Galaxy S series, but now it seems to be quietly distancing itself from the legendary pen. Earlier this year, Samsung introduced the S Pen with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, without Bluetooth functionality.
Right after the launch of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the owners of the device raised their voices for the lack of the S-Pen’s Bluetooth functionality, which makes us think the company will bring back the functionality with the coming foldable (Galaxy Z Fold 7) device; however, that is not the case, since the newly launched foldable is not even compatible with the S-Pen.
However, Samsung explained the reason behind removing Bluetooth from the S Pen is that less than 1% of users needed this feature. Instead of bringing back the Bluetooth support, the company has completely removed the S Pen compatibility with the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7, just to achieve a slim design of 8.9 mm.
This strongly hints that Samsung is shifting its mind from the S Pen’s existence. Whereas the leaked images of the coming Galaxy Tab S11 series also show that the device no longer has the magnetic charging area for the S Pen on the back, like previous models, this also suggests that the company is reorienting the entire S Pen experience toward minimalism, even removing Bluetooth connectivity on its next-gen tablet.
A few reports also suggest that the Galaxy S26 Ultra might be the last smartphone to support a built-in S Pen stylus. However, Samsung hasn’t shared any official statement regarding the existence of its S Pen in the coming flagship devices, so it’s hard to predict what will happen next.
