Not just in the smartphones segment, Samsung has always been a recognized brand when it comes to wearables, especially Galaxy Watches. Since the company retains the topmost spot in the Galaxy Watch sector, now, it appears like the company will be getting a competitor in the form of Meta, Facebook’s own firm.
Meta is eyeing entering into the wearables industry, perhaps offering tough competition to Samsung, according to the recent report presented by DigiTimes. Facebook’s firm will be executing its plans of launching its first-ever smartwatch, which is supposed to add a significant touch to its smart glasses, Ray-Ban Meta glasses, and Meta Quest 3, its mixed reality headset.
Not just this, Meta’s upcoming smartwatch will be packed with a camera, which perhaps sounds like the firm is making its previous plans possible of incorporating its future smartwatch with a 12MP primary camera and a 5MP selfie camera.
While Samsung Galaxy Watches are fully packed with features and upgrades that apparently focus on providing a well-maintained lifestyle, excellent fitness, and more improved health-based features (where the perfect example is the One UI 8 Watch’s Health features), at the same time, Meta’s smartwatch eyes providing a clear focus on what’s happening in the outside world.
Specifically, the report further allegedly claimed that Meta will perhaps be bringing a metaverse, a virtual digital world experience, with its future smartwatch for the users. Well, there is no official confirmation from Meta’s side, but it’s possible that the firm will be showcasing the newest smartwatch at its annual developers’ conference, Meta Connect 2025, being conducted on September 17.
Well, Samsung still continues to rule the smartwatch industry, and Meta can’t shake up Samsung’s giant position with just a single wearable. However, it remains to be seen whether Meta’s newest smartwatch will compete with Samsung’s Galaxy watches or not. Also, Samsung is all set to launch its first-ever XR headsets, Project Moohan, by the end of this year.
