Samsung to launch Smart Glasses in 2026 with deeper AI integration

At the MWC 2025, Samsung announced its most awaited Android XR headset, Project Moohan, which is expected to be launched later this year. Now, it is looking forward to introducing its XR smart glasses, which may be in 2026.

The Korean tech giant is actively working on its new smart glasses and headset right after announcing a collaboration with Google and Qualcomm on extended reality or “XR” devices. Initially it was rumored that Samsung would launch the smart glasses alongside the headset sometime in 2025, however, that’s not the actual case, since a new report is suggesting against this.

Reportedly, Samsung’s upcoming smart glasses are codenamed Project Haean. According to a new report from South Korea, the company could launch its smart glasses next year. Under a collaboration, Samsung and Google are actively working on this project, as Google’s Gemini assistant would do much of the heavy lifting on this device. The device will be powered by Google’s Android XR platform, an integration of Android developers particularly for headsets, smart glasses, and other extended reality products.

Reportedly, Samsung smart glasses users will be compatible with accessing Gemini with just a single tap, and the assistant would help then with things; such as translations, directions, and more. It can even let you summarize without having to take your phone out.

The exact launch date is yet to be clear, but Shahram Izadi, a VP who leads AR and XR at Google, was recently spotted wearing a prototype of the smart glasses at the TED2025 conference this week, where he also demonstrated a few of its features. Rumors also suggest that there may be another XR device in the pipeline, codenamed Project Jinju.
