Samsung’s newly launched Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are not only in demand among Galaxy fans but also among thieves, as over 12,000 units of these devices have been stolen in London.
Last month, Samsung organized a major Unpacked event on July 9 to launch its seventh-generation foldable phones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Right after the launch, the company started the pre-order program, and within a few days, the device set a new pre-order record in several key markets.
It’s almost been a month; the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 went official, but both devices remain a hot topic among foldable enthusiasts regarding their great specifications, ultra-slim design, advanced features, and impressive durability test results.
However, this time, the newly launched foldables are catching the attention for a surprising event. A reliable tipster, Ice Universe, shared a post on X, claiming that a truck loaded with Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 was recently stolen near London’s Heathrow Airport.
Reportedly, the stolen cargo contained nearly 12,000 units worth a whopping $10.6 million. The exact date and time of the heist are unclear yet. Figuratively speaking, Samsung would like to protect stolen phones, but unfortunately, if it isn’t possible, they can blacklist stolen phones so they can’t be sold in the illegal market.
However, to play safe, Samsung might have already sent a code to blacklist those stolen phones so that they can’t be activated/used, and once it finds the stolen units, it can re-enable them. Potentially, the company might also have insurance to cover incidents like this, so the financial hit would not sting too badly.
