Samsung stands right at the top when it comes to delivering software updates to its Galaxy ecosystem, from its smartphones to foldables to tablets. Meanwhile, surprisingly, the company is dispatching a new software update for the Galaxy S20 series, despite ending their software support.
However, Samsung has already started rolling out the latest Android security bulletin for the month of August to the Galaxy A56, and at the same time, guess what! The Galaxy S20 family is getting their newest software update even though they are not eligible to receive any update, anyway.
More specifically, the latest update for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra units significantly integrates the July 2025 security update and is identified with the version numbers G981USQSDHYG2, G986USQSDHYG2, and G988USQSDHYG2, respectively. Also, the July patch is currently available in the US on the Verizon network, which is expected to expand soon across the entire country in the near future.
The update, however, as usual, doesn’t bring any major features and changes; rather, it is meant to strengthen the overall system security, which focuses on improving the device’s overall security and core functionality. It packs a host of fixes for all the security vulnerabilities that have been found, which eventually provides a more secure user experience while also protecting the device against sophisticated threats.
Well, this is not the first time Samsung is offering additional software updates for the Galaxy devices that are already out of the race of getting any further updates in the future.
