Samsung makes fun of Chinese watches as it’s already developing next-gen Galaxy Watches

Samsung has already started working on its next two generations of smartwatches, which are supposed to be the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch 10. Let’s take a closer look at the new report.

Last month, Samsung at the Unpacked event launched its three new smartwatches, including the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025. It’s just been a month, and a new report suggests that Samsung has already started working on the next-generation Galaxy Watches.

At a press conference, a company executive recently drew a parallel between its products and Chinese rivals, highlighting how its approach differs from theirs. Reportedly, Choi Jong-min, the executive director of the Health Hardware Development Group, part of the Samsung Mobile Experience (MX) division, revealed that while Chinese manufacturers are focusing on increasing market share by attracting new buyers, the Korean tech giant is prioritizing improving longevity and working on better performance throughout the smartwatch’s life.

According to the report, the executive’s remarks also came in response to questions regarding the progress made by Chinese brands in power-efficient systems. Potentially citing the likes of the Huawei Watch 5 to strengthen the company’s position, Choi stated that these smartwatches use low-power chipsets with longer battery backup, of seven to ten days.

It seems that he might also be pointing out the dual-chip dual-OS approach taken by OPPO and OnePlus for their similar smartwatches. However, Samsung is strategizing to offer accurate health measurement systems, and under the hood, they are already being tested for the next two generations of the Galaxy Watch.

Recently, it launched the Galaxy Watch 8 series, which features a new metric called Antioxidant Index to detect the amount of carotenoids, for instance, a class of organic compounds present in certain yellow fruits, vegetables, and eggs. Apart from this, Samsung also introduced Vascular Load, which helps to quantify the amount of stress while sleeping and also determine the quality and impact of sleep, more than the number of hours slept. Thanks to a sophisticated biosensor, which has been upgraded on the Galaxy Watch 8 series over the previous generation.

By highlighting the carotenoid measurement, Choi mentioned this was a result of more than five years of research, adding that the company is looking forward five years in advance, and the team is already working on reviewing features for the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch 10.
