One UI 8 may bring an option to hide annoying location icon in the status bar

Samsung’s latest Android 16-based One UI 8 is indeed a significant upgrade over the One UI 7 version, despite not even being as massive as the previous OS. Meanwhile, it looks like the newest software might finally bring peace of mind to the Galaxy users who have been facing a few issues regarding the location icon.
Basically, according to a few complaints shared by the users on the Reddit, they have been constantly complaining about the location icon continuously appearing in the status bar when any Samsung app or the third-party app requires permission. This keeps frustrating users.

At the same time, users have stated that the location icon always remains at the top in the status bar, showing that the device’s location is being used, which is annoying.
Thankfully, the Android Authority team just found a few string codes in the latest internal One UI 8 beta build running on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, where it was discovered that Samsung appears to be planning to add an option with One UI 8 that could hide the location icon in the status bar when the system apps are accessing the phone’s location. However, the location icon will be visible when any third-party app accesses the location.
In addition, the string codes further point out that the location icon might be perhaps turned off by default when Samsung apps are accessing the user’s location.
Nevertheless, it’s not confirmed that the above option will be added with One UI 8’s public release, as it’s all up to Samsung what it decides, but in any case, if the information provided proves to be true, Galaxy owners will be more than happy, as they will get rid of this distracting problem anyway.
