Which Samsung Galaxy Gets One UI 8 and Android 16: Models and Dates

Samsung’s progress with its next-generation OS, One UI 8, is speedy yet impressive, especially after delaying the One UI 7 version. Meanwhile, here’s the entire One UI 8 story so far!

To recall, the One UI 7 journey started with a lengthy beta program for the first time ever in the history of the Galaxy S24 series, which kicked off the beta program alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, followed by the rollout delay for other Galaxy models, forcing Samsung to simultaneously start the development of the Android 16-based One UI 8 version.

Though One UI 7 is delayed, One UI 8 is speedy and will enter into the stability stage next month, starting with the Galaxy S25 series:

At the same time, the Galaxy S25 series became the first lineup to debut with the stable One UI 7 version, which was then followed by more Galaxy devices subsequently. However, the newest Android 16-based One UI 8 version is comparatively smaller and is not as massive as the One UI 7 was, but the best part is that the Android 16-based update is more significant and brings the features that the previous version lacks, anyways.

Here is the list of all the Galaxy devices that will be receiving stable Android 16-based One UI 8:

Certainly, Samsung launched its latest folding phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE, with the stable One UI 8 out of the box, and it was the first time when any major yet standard OS version arrived with the foldables, following the significant lead of Google’s Android 16 in June, but the speedy One UI 8 rollout was covered up, perhaps due to adopting Google’s Trunk Stable development model. Eventually, leading to another confirmation that the newest Android 16-based One UI 8 stable will be available for the Galaxy S25 series by next month.

More specifically, Samsung will follow an eligibility criterion; however, it is yet to be clarified which Galaxy models will receive the latest Android 16-powered One UI 8 update, but speculating the device list via their software update policy, the models include some selective ones from the Galaxy S series, Z series, Galaxy A, M, and F, and a few tablets. It’s noticeable that the S series’ flagship, the S21, will not be receiving the stable update, while its sibling, the Galaxy S21 FE, will get updated with the latest OS.

While the One UI 8 beta program has been open for the Galaxy S25 series for quite some time now, Samsung is also testing the beta build for other Galaxy devices. Beginning with the S25 family, Samsung will be delivering the stable rollout from September. At the same time, the Galaxy S24 series alongside Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 units are currently testing the One UI 8 beta program, expanding to even more Galaxy devices sequentially over the coming future.
