Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 users are struggling with a paint peeling issue just within a few months of using it, similar to the predecessor Galaxy Z Fold 6.
The company launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7 along with its sibling, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 foldable phone, back in July this year. It’s hardly been two months of official launch yet, and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 users have already started complaining about the paint peeling.
A huge number of Galaxy Z Fold 7 owners (1, 2, 3) took to Reddit as a platform to report regarding the paint peeling problem. Owners reported peeling paint on the edges, scratches, and bare metal, especially around the power button, charging port, and bezel of the device.
According to the reporters, they have kept their phones in protective cases and have never been dropped or impacted, but the coating still peeled off over time. However, this is not surprising, since this has already happened previously with the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Last time, regarding the Galaxy Z Fold 6 paint peeling problem, the company explained that third-party fast chargers that were not properly grounded could cause electrical leakage, affecting the anodized layer, which leads to peeling paint over time.
Noticeably, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 owners are claiming that they are only using the original 25W charger that comes with the device, but the peeling still occurs. Currently, it’s unclear whether Samsung has acknowledged this problem, but it will be interesting to see exactly how it will deal with this paint-peeling problem.
