Samsung Takes Second Place in Q2 2025 DRAM Market with Increased Revenue

Samsung Electronics failed to secure the leading position in the global DRAM market, as its rival SK Hynix surpassed it and secured the position with 38.7% market share.
According to the new data from TrendForce (via), Samsung positioned second from the top with the posted revenue of $10.35 billion in the global DRAM market during the second quarter of this year. Noticeably, despite the company’s revenue rising by 13.7%, as compared to Q1 2025.
Reportedly, the global DRAM market revenue during Q2 2025 reached $31.63 billion, which is an increase of 17.1% from the previous quarter. The key reason behind this uplift is the continued increase in DRAM prices, strong improvements in production capacity, and increasing demand for HBM.
Whereas Samsung’s rival SK Hynix posted revenue of $12.23 billion during Q2 2025, an increase of 25.8% from the previous quarter. Its market share also increased from 36% to 38.7%, which is a 2.7% increase.
Micron secured the third position with $6.95 billion in revenue. These metrics clearly show that Samsung has to replan its strategy to surpass its rival SK Hynix in Q3 2025 in the global DRAM market. It remains to be seen exactly how the Korean tech giant will deal with maintaining its leading position in the DRAM market.
