One UI 8.5 to Introduce a Revamped In-Call Screen UI

Samsung is gearing up to introduce its next major iteration, One UI 8.5, which is now anticipated to bring squircle buttons to the In-Call screen.

The company has already started rolling out the stable Android 16-based One UI 8 update to the eligible Galaxy devices, initially in selected regions, but it is expected to extend widely. Meanwhile, the next iteration, One UI 8.5, has leaks and reports that have already started appearing online.

According to a new report (via), Samsung is considering upgrading the in-call screen interface for a new look by bringing squircle buttons with the upcoming One UI 8.5 version. With this update, the flat control board will be replaced with squircle-shaped buttons while rearranging their layout.

Reportedly, the three-dot “More options” button has been given a more prominent spot as well. The in-call dialer also adopts the new style, shifting from a dense flat layout to neatly separated buttons. Apart from this, the in-call dialer has also been revamped in the latest style; a dense flat layout now appears, replacing neatly separated buttons.

However, it’s not the official look of the in-call screen interface, so it remains to be seen whether the final design will appear similar to the leaked design. Recently, it’s been reported that the One UI 8.5 will allow you to resize Quick Settings tiles, may bring changes to Samsung’s My Files app, bring Ask Gemini and Ask Bixby Actions, and more.
